These cinnabar earrings are carved on both sides with the Chinese character for "long life," and look great when combined with either neutral colors or blues and turquoise. Note: True cinnabar has not been used to make jewelry for years, since it is a toxic mercuric sulfide. Today, "cinnabar" beads are made of layers of lacquer, then hand- or machine-carved. All base metal ear wires are either hypo-allergenic surgical steel wire or gold- or silver-plate over surgical steel. Also available with sterling silver or gold leverbacks, or clip-on style for non-pierced ears. |
